It really seems like when Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo joined foreces they instantly became a production powerhouse. Ranked #1 on Billboard’s Top 10 Producers of the Decade list, The Neptunes have been dropping fire forever.

A Slum Village track is the only way to end J Dilla week. “Raise It Up” may not even be the best track on Fantastic Vol. 2 but it definitely bumps the hardest. They just don’t make ‘em like this anymore..
Since Dilla’s death there has been a inflow of Dilla mixes and mashup mixtapes. My three favorites are listed below:
What If Dilla Produced the Blueprint?
In 2007 Busta Rhyme’s released a tribute mixtape Dillagence, which is still one of my favorite mixtapes to date.
The truth is that there is no way to cover J Dilla’s career in 5 posts, so I encourage everyone that reads this to get a hold of every Dilla production they can and give it a good listen. His discography is ridiculous and full of bangers and the illest level of production. Dilla was a true hip hop legend.

In 2000 Common and Dilla got together to work on Common’s Like Water For Chocolate LP and came out with some bangers. Dilla produced 11 tracks for the album, but none bigger than “The Light”, one of the most classic hip-hop love songs to date.
Also that year, Dilla released Fantastic, Vol. 2 with Slum Village as well the legendary track “4 Horsemen” by Phife Dawg.

One of my favorite Dilla tracks ever, Jay Dee and Q-Tip got together in 1999 to work on Q-Tip’s Amplified album. Dilla was fresh off working with the Tribe a year before for their The Love Movement album, so Q-Tip and DIlla collaborations were inevitable. ”Let’s Ride” was just one of the ten tracks he produced for the album, which also included “Breathe & Stop” and “Wait Up”.
