New York rapper/producer JBX has released his new mixtape, Lite Work, exclusively on ightBet. I personally think JBX is one of the up and coming artists to keep an eye on this year. On Lite Work JBX has teamed up with rising producer L.HO on many of the tracks, as well as singer Faiz Lone for both “Left Me” and “Mission Impossible”.
JBX has developed a lot lyrically since we last heard from him. Lite Work is littered with metaphors and tongue twisters. He shows his range as an MC by recording both mellow tracks and hype tracks on this tape. Overall, it‘s definitely something everyone needs to have.

Ludacris’s newest album, Battle of the Sexes, recently hit #1 on the charts according to Billboard. I think this album is weaker than Luda’s past albums, I find it more pop and aimed more toward clubs and radio play than hip-hop heads.

Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” featured Ne-Yo as the songwriter and a breakthrough job by Stargate on the production side. My only problem with this song is that, seriously, who would ever be dumb enough to cheat on Beyonce? Have you seen the “Single Ladies” video?

Whatever happened to Daniel Powter? Who the hell cares.. I hate this song with an undying passion, it single handedly attempted to ruin the entire year of 2006 for me. I considered skipping this post entirely but apparently people in America like this song enough to make it number one in its year. How it beat out the other “great” pop songs of the year, which included Rhianna’s “SOS”, Justin Timberlake’s “My Love” and “SexyBack”, Beyonce’s “Check on It”, Chamillionaire’s “Ridin”, and Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous” I will never know…
